Since childhood, I have been an ardent Jumanji fan. I am sure you would have also watched the first movie featuring Robin Williams in 1995 when Jumanji was a board game. It’s turned into a video game now. However, the drum roll still remains the same and is capable of giving you the goosebumps of what’s going to come next.
Then in 2005 came Zathura: A Space Adventure, which was based on the book authored by Chris Van Allusburg, who is also the author of Jumanji. Although this movie didn’t do so well as Jumanji, but the theme was same. My only take away from this movie was Kirsten Stewart, yes Bella from Twilight Saga.
I was so fond of these board game movies that I watched them over and over again. And my excitement was infectious enough that my hubby and son too watched it, mostly because I pushed.
Then in 2017 came Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, that got the family hooked. WWE superstar turned Hollywood actor Rock rocked it with his intense smolder expression. The adventure, comedy, cast all weaved perfect magic. This, time the game upgraded from being a board game to a video game. An if you are a Jumanji fan you know what followed next.
Lately, ever since the trailer of Jumani: The Next Level got released, we being fans, kept an eye on release date and here we are. Today afternoon we watched the movie.
I am excited to share the review with you guys.
Director: Jake Kasdan
Cast: Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Nick Jonas
Review:
The team is same, with a few addons but the game has reached the next level. This part hardly has any forests, it’s more of desert and snow-clad mountains. The team faces many surprises that the game throws at them right from Avatars swaps to complication of levels. They have to crank up their commitment to complete the game.
This movie has couple of twists, that you will enjoy.
This movie is surely fun. The story is little different than last time with entry of new characters. The movie focuses on friendship, love, believing in each other and resolving conflicts.
The characters always resolve their misunderstanding in their game Avatar’s which they fail to address in their normal life.
My favourite characters are both the girls Martha and Bethany. They are sorted.
And with the entry of Nick Jonas, invariably a thought crossed my mind, “Damadji aa gaye!!!”.
Just like first part the villain is not very overpowering or even a known face.
Points to highlight:
If you are parent to kids above 5yr, you must take them.
Watch the movie either in 3D or 4XD the snow fall and action scenes will be memorable.
Sit till the credits, otherwise you will miss an upcoming adventure.
Yayyy…nice to have found this review. I saw the two Jumanji movies, courtesy my son. Though frankly didn’t like the one with Dwayne Johnson. You say this one is fun so surely going this weekend. And, happy to know Nick Jonas is there..was kind of sad not seeing him in the posters!
I definitely wish to catch Jumanji with my neice and nephew in the theaters. Watched the trailer and loved it.
Lol, damaadji. I loved Jumanji, the board game version over its successor and yet to check the recent one. It seems the action sequences are shot well and deserves a 3 D experience. Thanks for the review.
I absolutely loved the original Jumanji movie but I’ve been hesitant to watch the new ones. On your recommendation, I will.
